Christie's Dubai will hold an auction of Natural Pearls on October 29th, 2008. I expect the prices will close far above expected, based on recent auctions in Asia, where pearls estimated at about $25,000 sold for over $350,000. A preliminary presentation of some of the gems for auction will take place in Christie's London on September 29, 2008.
The Dubai Pearl Exchange, an exclusive club of pearl traders, is ramping up under the Dubai Multi-Commodities Center, or DMCC. Membership costs approximately $2,500 per year and requires extensive background information. For all serious natural pearl traders, I highly recommend applying for membership.

Natural Pearl Business
Natural Ocean Pearls (not cultured), surely the rarest gems on earth, are undergoing a tremendous escalation in price that began in 2002. The purpose of this blog is to report on significant natural pearl sales worldwide, to promote investment in these items, which can return between 25% and 75% per year, and to open channels for world trade of these rarities. The market is thin, and consists chiefly of the elite of the world who wish to possess literally priceless jewels that are only one or two oil tanker spills from utter extinction.
I invite anyone who buys and sells natural ocean pearls to report to me for posting. The more information of this sort moves into public awareness, the more valuable the jewels will become. Cultured pearls are of no interest, because they can be obtained by the ton and have little value.
